During a press conference in the East Room with Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu, President Donald Trump said that the United States will "take over" the Gaza Strip.
"The US will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it, too," Trump said. "We'll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site."

Israel has been at war with Hamas since the Palestinian terror group staged an attack on the nation on October 7, 2023, murdering 1,200 people and taking many others hostage. Hamas is still holding hostages in Gaza.

President Trump emphasized that the region cannot go back to how it was, and that through the US controlling the Gaza Strip, there will be real change.
"We will restore calm and stability to the region and expand prosperity, opportunity and hope to our nations and for all people in the Middle East — including the Arab and Muslim nations. Very important,” Trump added.
He reiterated that peace and tranquility should be the norm in the Middle East so that people in the region will have “great lives.” Netanyahu, who joined Trump for conference, said that the president has been able to think outside the box in regard to foreign policy, and that was the reason the Abraham Accords were able to be created.
“This is the kind of thinking that will reshape the Middle East, and bring peace,” Netanyahu commented.
