BREAKING: Trump says ‘Everything was declassified’ in boxes seized from Mar-a-Lago

The former president made the claims during an interview with Fox News' Bret Baier.

"Like every other president, I take things out," Trump explained, pointing out that things were packed up in a hurry and many of the boxes included clothing and personal items.

"Be specific on the documents," Baier asked.

Trump responded by stating that "everything was declassified," noting that he "had the right to declassify."

The former president went on to shift the conversation to his successor, Joe Biden, who was also seen storing government documents in various places.

"I have every right to have those boxes," Trump reiterated.

Trump also laid into former Attorney General Bill Bar, calling him a "coward" and adding that he "didn't do what he was supposed to do."

At one point, Baier asked why Trump did not just hand over the documents as soon as the DOJ issued its unprecedented subpoena, to which Trump answered, "Because I had boxes, I wanna go through the boxes and get all my personal things out... and I was very busy as you've sort of seen..."

Baier countered that the indictment says that Trump told his lawyers he had "fully complied" with the subpoena when he had not done so.

Trump responded that "there were many things" inside of the boxes that he had to go through including various personal times such as golf shirts, pants, and shoes.

"Iran war plan?" Baier interrupted.

"Not that I know of," answered Trump, who then noted that numerous other US Presidents have also taken documents in the past, all while receiving no scrutiny from the government.

"Other presidents, when they leave, they take the papers. They have thousands and thousands. Obama had it, Nixon had it, Carter had it, the Bush's had it," Trump explained.

Baier replied that in Trump's case, these are "super sensitive national security documents," to which the former president responded, "...Biden has far more then anybody's ever kept."

The Fox News host defended Biden, insisting that unlike the former president, he "turned them over when asked," a narrative that Trump made it apparent he does not agree with.
