BREAKING: Twitter censors President Trump for issuing warning to the mob outside White House

Trump wrote "There will never be an 'Autonomous Zone' in Washington, DC, as long as I'm your President. If they try they will be met with serious force."

As the Commander in Chief of the United States military, Trump has the authority to tell those who would occupy the nation's capital that there will be consequences for doing so.

Twitter, who believes itself to be arbiter of truth and justice, has taken this opportunity to wield their power in an ongoing stand-off with the president.

Twitter Safety slapped a warning over the tweet, saying "We've placed a public interest notice on this Tweet for violating our policy against abusive behaviour, specifically, the presence of a threat of harm against an identifiable group."

It is worth noting, however, that Twitter Safety does not appear to have been concerned about multiple threats issued to police on its platform, which is also an identifiable group of people. Hashtags like ACAB and F*** the police abound with tweets.

Twitter and Donald Trump have been in a war of words and influence for some time. It was earlier in the spring that Twitter began "fact-checking" the president's tweets and slapping warning labels on them.

After the protests raged in Minneapolis, Trump decried the violence and wrote "I can't stand back & watch this happen to a great American City, Minneapolis. A total lack of leadership. Either the very weak Radical Left Mayor, Jacob Frey, get his act together and bring the City under control, or I will send in the National Guard & get the job done right..."

However, what Twitter is doing in censoring the president is also having the result of censoring his constituents who would interact with him on the platform.

In censoring Trump, they are in fact creating a situation where he is the only one able to speak. It's clear that Twitter's Jack Dorsey and team have not thought this all the way through.
