Investigators said the shootings appear random in nature, though several incidents appeared to involve the targeting of fire stations, according to CBS Austin. In a press conference on Sunday, Austin Mayor Kirk Watson and APD Chief Lisa Davisin gave an update on the shootings.

“We don’t have any specific motive that has been identified. In fact, these actions appear to be random,” Watson said. “It appears that as part of this, people are changing vehicles.”

At around 9 pm on Saturday, the suspect fired toward Fire Station 26 in East Austin. The next shooting didn't take place until 8 am the next morning, when a male victim was shot and taken to the hospital in serious condition. The third shooting occurred less than three hours later, with the suspect firing at Fire Station 32 in southeast Austin.

In a separate incident, a witness reported seeing someone in a vehicle firing. One person was shot and taken to a South Austin hospital, and needed surgery.

Four individuals have been shot throughout all the shootings, with one suffering serious injuries and the other three having more minor injuries. The suspects were described as Hispanic males in their late teens; one had wavy hair, and the other longer hair.

Vehicles in connection with the shootings included a dark-colored Hyundai, a gold Hyundai, a silver Mazda, and a white Kia.
