Tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy is now tied with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for second place in the Republican presidential race, a new poll released Thursday by Kaplan Strategies has revealed.
Ramaswamy has seen his support surge as of late, however he and DeSantis remain dozens of points behind longtime frontrunner Donald Trump.

View on RumbleAccording to the poll, both Ramaswamy and DeSantis are sitting at 12 percent support among likely Republican voters. Trump still holds a commanding lead, at 48 percent.
The poll found that while DeSantis was seen as "favorable" by 59 percent of respondents, voters were less sure about political newcomer Ramaswamy, who received a 27 percent uncertain rating.
A total of 800 people were surveyed nationwide between July 17 and 18 via the web and text messages.
Doug Kaplan, founder of Kaplan Strategies, pointed out that Ramaswamy "outperformed six other hopefuls by more than double, calling the result a "significant surprise."
He predicted that as the primary approaches, "it's likely we'll see the lower-tier candidates drop off, and their voters will either return to Trump or rally behind rising stars like Ramaswamy or DeSantis."
Ramaswamy's jump in the polls comes on the heels of a widely celebrated performance at the Family Leadership Summit in Iowa on Friday.

"It is our job to step up and fill that void by practicing what we preach as conservatives," he said.
The following day, a straw poll was conducted at the Turning Point Action Conference in West Palm Beach, Florida. While Trump received 85 percent of the vote, Ramaswamy managed to best DeSantis, with over 50 percent saying they'd choose him as their second pick.
