Brian Stelter’s news anchor wife accused of workplace bullying, ‘A lot of people don’t like working with Jamie’
Jamie Stelter and her co-anchor on Morning on 1, Annika Pergament, were referred to as “high school bullies” that frequently gossiped and made insulting remarks to other coworkers.
According to a report in New York Magazine that was published Wednesday, the wife of CNN host Brian Stelter has been accused of bullying in the workplace by numerous colleagues which wish to remain anonymous. The piece in New York Magazine delved into "the petty, vindictive, and backbiting" that took place at NY1 news station.
Jamie Stelter and her co-anchor on Morning on 1, Annika Pergament, were referred to as "high school bullies" that frequently gossiped and made insulting remarks to other coworkers.
According to the report, Jamie Stelter grew mean and burdensome when her CNN husband became more recognizable and popular. A former colleague accused Stetler of gossiping about "the way someone did their hair, what they’re wearing, their reporting," while her microphone was still on.
"People would avoid her," an anonymous colleague said while another added, "A lot of people don’t like working with Jamie," the report alleged.
The piece mentioned that Jamie Stelter made "snide comments" about NY1 traffic reporter and a former Miss New York and Jets cheerleader, Alyse Zwick, after a photo of Zwick went viral on Twitter. Zwick was later banned from posting photos of her at pageants and cheering at NFL games after Stetler's remarks.
The report also alleged that employees of NYI expressed deep concern towards the treatment of former NY1 weather anchor Stacy Ann Gooden.
Ten anonymous current and former employees claimed that Stelter, Pergament and a third co-anchor, Pat Kiernan, ostracized Gooden. The NY1 anchors excluded Gooden from meetings and left her out of on-air roundtable discussions, only giving her a "very short" and "abrupt" time to speak, according to Daily Caller.
"It got to the point where Stacy-Ann couldn’t take it anymore because they were just outwardly rude," one former colleague claimed to New York Magazine.
According to the report, Gooden complained to NY1 about the bullying she received from Stelter and her co-anchors but chose to quit when the network failed to take action.
