Caitlyn Jenner says boys who transition ‘very young’ should be allowed to compete in women’s sports

In early May, the former Olympian turned reality star was approached by TMZ and asked her stance on biological men competing in women’s sports and said she was against their participation.

"This is a question of fairness. That's why I oppose biological boys who are trans competing in girls' sports in school. It just isn't fair. And we have to protect girls' sports in our school," Jenner told TMZ.

During the interview, Jenner told Fox News that if elected Governor of California should would put together a "commission" that would evaluate transgender athletes on a case-by-case basis.

"What I would do as governor, I would put together a commission," Jenner said. "Trans women compete in the Olympics, they compete in the NCAA, but when it gets down to the high school level, there’s no guide rules, there’s no rules and regulations how they can."

"And trans women, who are truly trans, who at a very young age, you know, started proper medical treatment, they’ve grown up as girls, of course they should be able to compete in girls’ sports," the gubernatorial candidate added. "But yes, some guy who hasn’t done any therapy, hasn’t done anything, there has to be a review board."

"And I would be the first governor to put together a review board to review each case," Jenner added. "Such a small issue. It’s like a non-issue that’s out there. And I would be surprised if there’s 30 trans athletes in the entire state."

After the California gubernatorial candidates comments caused a firestorm among conservative news outlets, the Jenner campaign released a statement and said, "Caitlyn stands by her statement that biological boys should not compete in girls sports."

"It’s an issue of fairness. Athletes that have fully transitioned should be able to participate, but no males simply identifying as female should play in girls sports."
