California man zip-tied, set on fire after stopping to help seemingly stranded woman
After stopping, two men stepped out of the woman’s black SUV and, while holding the victim at gunpoint, restrained him with zip ties and doused him in gasoline. They proceeded to set him on fire, then steal his car.
A California man was zip-tied and set on fire by car thieves after stopping to help a woman on the side of the road whom he believed to be stranded, according to a police report from Fox News.
The incident happened last week as the victim was driving along a road just southwest of Yuba City, around 40 miles north of Sacramento. He was flagged down by a seemingly-stranded woman shortly before 11 pm and so he pulled over to come to her aid.

After stopping, two men stepped out of the woman's black SUV and, while holding the victim at gunpoint, restrained him with zip ties and doused him in gasoline. They proceeded to set him on fire, then steal his car.
The victim successfully managed to snuff out the fire by rolling around on the ground before calling 911. Authorities found his abandoned car, along with a replica gun, a few miles away from the scene.
He was transported to the hospital where he was treated for burns. There has been no follow-up on his condition.
The suspects are still at large and the victim wasn't able to give a good description of his attackers other than that they looked to be of Middle Eastern descent.
There are some sections of Northern California that have some of the highest crime in the country. One of those areas, Tehama County, just north of Yuba City, had to suspend its daytime police patrols due to what they described as "catastrophic staffing shortages."
