California middle school teacher pleads no contest to child sex charges involving 14-year-old boy

Michelle Christine Solis, 46, "admitted guilt" during a preliminary hearing in court, according to the Butte County District Attorney's Office, the New York Post reports.

Solis taught the student victim at Sycamore Junior High School in Gridley, California, a small town near Sacramento.

Court documents state that Solis had sex with the student inside a locked classroom on his 8th grade graduation day after she interacted with the student on Instagram a few weeks prior to graduation in 2021.

Solis reportedly sent the boy four explicit photos before having sex with him in the classroom at the school, prosecutors said.

Police launched an investigation in October 2023 after rumors began to circulate in the small town.

During the investigation, police found photos of Solis on the boy's phone as well as messages between him and Solis. She was arrested in November and booked into jail on a $15,000 bond.

Her sentencing date has been scheduled for June 6 later this year.

Solis faces up to four years in state prison and she will be required to register as a sex offender.
