Cawthorn to become youngest member of House

Cawthorn's victory was made official by 9:20 pm.

According to The Hill, Cawthorn is considered to be an up-and coming star within the Republican Party, after having had to fight hard to first narrowly win the primary against the odds, and then fight again against multiple accusations and re-drawn Congressional districts to grab the North Carolina House seat from his opponent.

Cawthorn is no stranger to adversity, however. He was recently almost killed in a car accident, and left partially paralyzed, and confined to a wheelchair.

His victory was made all the more remarkable considering that both Meadows and US President Donald Trump backed Cawthorn's Republican rival in the primaries, Lynda Bennett. But after defeating Bennett, he still had to face Moe Davis, his Democratic opponent, who ran a very tough campaign.

There were lots of allegations thrown around, but the biggest being that Cawthorn had National Socialist inclinations, because of a trip to a place in Germany known as the Eagle's Nest. Cawthorn claims the journey was all about celebrating the Allied victory there, which was won by US soldiers.

"Hitler's vacation retreat is not on my bucket list," said Davis in a tweet, referring to the fact that this area was also the summer home of Hitler and many of the top Nazi brass during the war years. Cawthorn fired back:

"When I visited the Eagle's Nest this was the history I had in mind. It was a surreal experience to be remembering their joy in a place where the Nazi regime had plotted unspeakable acts of evil," said Cawthorn on Facebook.

"The vacation house of the Führer. Seeing the Eagles Nest has been on my bucket list for awhile, it did not disappoint. Strange to hear so many laughs and share such a good time with my brother where only 79 years ago a supreme evil shared laughs and good times with his compatriots."

North Carolina is has become hotly contested swing state in 2020 in the Presidential, Senate and House races.
