Those who claim that the CBC holds an anti-Conservative bias have received more ammunition today after the public broadcaster ran a thinly-disguised hit piece on opposition leader Andrew Scheer.
"Andrew Scheer spotted without a mask at Toronto's Pearson Airport," barked the headline. Failing to mention, of course, that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has similarly broken lockdown rules.
Take, for instance, the time when Trudeau appeared at a Black Lives Matter rally in Ottawa. In this case, Trudeau was wearing a facemask, yet he also happened to be in the middle of a crowd of some 20,000 people.

As well as this, the prime minister broke lockdown advice by traveling to his cottage (not once, but twice) in the early days of the pandemic.
His first Easter weekend vacation to Harrington caused outrage as it confirmed for many that there's one set of rules for the prime minister and another for ordinary Canadians. It even led to Trudeau being mocked on Fox News' Tucker Carlson tonight.

View on XTrudeau's cottage getaway involved crossing the provincial border of Quebec and Ontario, a trip that has been strongly discouraged by provincial premiers. Police have been set up at the border to bar entry in either direction. Ordinary Canadians are being regularly turned away.
Despite all this, the CBC gave a detailed rundown of how Andrew Scheer was spotted at Toronto Pearson Airport without a mask (never mind that he was at a safe distance from other travellers.)
It is also worth noting that Rosemary Barton—a journalist who had the gall to sue the Conservative Party in the middle of an election—tweeted about Scheer's mask violation twice. Naturally, she didn't tweet once about the Ethics Commissioner's investigation.
The CBC is mandated with the task of providing non-partisan coverage to Canadians. It is funded by 100 percent of the population to do so. In recent years, however, it has hardly attempted to veil their admiration for the prime minister—losing viewers rapidly as a result.
