Charlie Kirk memorial DESECRATED in Calgary

The culprit is not known.

The vigil had been set up outside Calgary city hall following a large memorial gathering on Sunday night. Thousands came together in prayer, played music, and speeches to remember Kirk, the 31-year-old founder of Turning Point USA who was assassinated by a leftist during a campus event at Utah Valley University on September 10.

Attendees had candles and signs, some thanking Kirk for leading them to their faith. Canadian and US flags were shown, with the crowd singing hymns and the American national anthem.

“He was shot for his freedom of speech,” one attendee told CityNews. “The second people get gunned down in the streets for their opinions — I don’t care what those opinions are — people like me that are typically quiet are going to come out.” A third said, “Violence is not OK, stop the violence.”

Calgary police monitored the vigil to manage traffic. The event was totally peaceful. Vigils were also held in Edmonton and Red Deer the same evening, with large turnouts. Videos from those events showed people holding candles and wearing MAGA hats.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith showed her support and said she was “moved” by the compassion shown across the province. She also shared a moment from a Morgan Wallen concert in Edmonton where the country singer asked fans to send their condolences to Kirk’s widow, Erika, who has since been named the CEO of Turning Point.

Kirk, a father of two, built Turning Point USA into a major conservative youth movement and was close with President Donald Trump. A massive memorial is scheduled for next Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Arizona.
