Conservatives up 10 points in new poll amid Trudeau’s anti-freedom fiasco

"The 10-point jump for the Tories comes as Bergen advocates for protesters & as the Tories oppose the government’s use of the Emergencies Act, which was invoked to give police new powers to remove those same demonstrators," iPolitics reporter Rachel Emmanuel reported on the new poll's findings.

The poll asked respondents whom they'd vote for if a federal election were held at that moment. 39 per cent of leaning and decided voters chose the Conservative party, while 31 per cent of respondents chose the Liberals.

Bergen was named the interim leader of the federal Conservative party after Erin O'Toole was forced out of the leadership role.

15 per cent of the respondents said they'd vote for the NDP at this time, and six per cent each said that their vote would go to the Bloc Québécois and the People’s Party of Canada (PPC). Two per cent each picked the Greens or another party.

"The analysis in this report is based on results of a survey conducted from February 16th-17th, 2022 among a sample of 1323 adults, 18 years of age or older, living in Canada," states the poll's methodology.

"The survey was conducted using automated telephone interviews (Smart IVR). Respondents were interviewed on landlines and cellular phones. The survey is intended to represent the voting population in Canada."

The margin of error for the poll is plus/minus 2.7 per cent at the 95 per cent confidence level. Margins of error are higher in each subsample.
