On Thursday, Little League coaches received an email telling them to cancel everything on May 24 in order to attend an "anti-racist" workshop called "Sports can battle racism."
The workshop is put on by the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), which has just partnered with the Alexandria VA Little League.
According to the Daily Wire, the PCA has many modules up on their website, and all of them appear to adhere to what is known as CRT or "critical race theory".
The modules range from glossaries defining terms such as "cultural appropriation" and "intersectionality." Another questions the concept of "equality" and "meritocracy", suggesting that they should be replaced by "equity" as a "more important principle."
In another part of the guide, it talks about gender, noting that Facebook offers more than 70 options for people to identify themselves.
Casey Miller, a spokesperson for the PCA, stated:
"We want kids to have a positive youth character building experience, and resources and training that empower youth coaches and parents. How we define culture is based on how we dive into the ‘we’ piece about that statement. What does it mean to be a part of the we? Each person, no matter what background or what they look like, should feel a part of the 'we.'"
Many parents are less than enthused about this new training guide, however.
Barry Bennett, a concerned parent, commented, "This is Little League, everyone plays in every game. This is a bunch of busybodies virtue signaling. Leave ten-year-olds alone."
