Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi, 25, was ordered to leave the country by an immigration judge on Feb. 2, 2022, per Department of Homeland Security sources who spoke to the New York Post. Inga-Landi, the suspect set to be charged with the rape of a 13-year-old girl at Kissena Park.
He crossed the border in June 2021 with his son in Eagle Pass, Texas. He was arrested, processed, and then released, the sources told the outlet.
Inga-Landi and his family were deemed "inadmissible" after coming into the country by border agents as they did not have documentation to be in the US. However, they were released into the interior with a court date to appear before an immigration judge. A source told the Post, “People are getting released with NTAs because Border Patrol cannot hold detainees longer than 72 hours.”
Police arrested Inga-Landi on Tuesday in connection to the suspected crimes last week, where he reportedly held a 13-year-old girl and boy at knifepoint with a machete in broad daylight. From that point, he tied their hands together with shoelaces and then allegedly raped the teenage girl. Afterwards, he took both of their phones away and ran off, telling them to stay put for 20 minutes. The teens later ran to a school where they called the authorities.
A massive search was launched in order to find him after the incident, leading to him being apprehended by police.
