FEC data: House Dems have already paid Marc Elias more than $12.7 million to wage lawfare attacks after supposed ‘blue wave’ midterms
President Donald Trump referred to Elias during the 2018 post-election battles as Democrats’ “best Election stealing lawyer.”

Democrats may have sought to use dubious polling data to project confidence that the Nov. 3 midterm election will be a blue wave that delivers them control of Congress. However, a review of recent filings from the Federal Election Commission offered a telltale sign that — behind the scenes, at least — they were less confident in the will of the people going their way.

View on XReports indicated that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), the official campaign arm of House Democrats, has preemptively paid Democrat mega-lawyer Marc Elias more than $12.7 million already as they brace for an extended legal brawl to reverse Republicans’ election-night victories.
The FEC data revealed at least 218 reported payments from the DCCC to Elias during the 2025-26 campaign cycle that were specifically earmarked for “recount” legal services.
The total, as of Sunday, was $12,758,770.21. However, the data did not include any payments made in the most recent quarter, with the cutoff for the filings in the last quarter appearing to come on Aug. 28.
On Aug. 28 alone, the DCCC reported 12 separate payments to Elias totaling $381,630.73.
Elias is perhaps most widely known for being the intermediary between the Hillary Clinton campaign and the opposition-research firm Fusion GPS, which commissioned the fabrication of the notorious Steele Dossier.
However, he has been the bagman for many Democrat dealings over the past two decades, and a vanguard in helping to establish the current age of spurious, weaponized lawfare as a political strategy unto itself.
His key legal conquests in election-reversal and gerrymandering lawsuits have played a significant part in flipping once battleground states like Minnesota and Virginia into the deep blue category.

View on XAfter Elias left his former law firm, Perkins Coie, while it was under investigation by former special counsel John Durham for its role in the Russiagate hoax, he forged out on his own, becoming a ubiquitous political commentator helping to advance Democratic talking points.
He recently made headlines in North Carolina for sending a cease-and-desist letter to a media outlet that was investigating whether former governor and current Democrat senatorial candidate Roy Cooper has been trying to conceal a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease.
