FLASHBACK: Many people ripping into Gov. Cuomo used to sing his praises

In the past year or so, many prominent people were singing his praises. Here's a little trip down memory lane to see how people used to feel about the now mired-in-scandals NY State governor:

We will start the long parade of tweets off with this particular one, from none other than CNN's official Twitter account:

"In the midst of a pandemic, Americans need real leadership -- and the New York governor has risen to the occasion. In the face of a feckless, reckless president spreading disinformation by the day, Cuomo has stepped up"

"New York under the leadership of Governor Cuomo is taking some of the strongest and sensible mitigation steps in U.S. to slow spread of #coronavirus epidemic. It stands in stark contrast to Washington State, which has been slow to act forcefully in Seattle," tweeted Scott Gottlieb, a medical doctor and contributor to CNN

"Andrew Cuomo is to Coronavirus what Rudy Giuliani was to 9/11. In a crisis, his authoritarian tendencies get retconned as leadership and their destructive impacts on people forgotten. When it comes time for the next phase of his ambition, there’ll be bewilderment re his behavior."

The tweet, which obviously has not aged well, referring to a NY Post article captioned, "Democrats want to drop Joe Biden for Andrew Cuomo, poll finds".

Drew Holden, a prominent independent journalist, has been keeping busy on his Twitter account, showing even more examples of gushing praise for Cuomo in the recent past:

"Might be time to take this one down, @washingtonpost. 'The comedian Chelsea Handler is attracted to [Cuomo]. Even women who used to despise him find him irresistible. His enemies give him praise.'"

"Yikes" responds the tweet, from a shared tweet that says: "In the absence of federal leadership, governors are stepping up. Take Andrew Cuomo for instance:"

Trevor Noah plays a video clip of Cuomo's brother Chris "interviewing" him, in which he refers to all the "adulation" he's been receiving lately, and asking if he is thinking of running for president of the US. Cuomo says "no".

"Cool cool" responds Holden to none other than Bette Midler, who said:

"Mr. Cuomo’s handling of the crisis has fostered a nationwide following; Mr. Biden called #Cuomo’s briefings a “lesson in leadership,” & others have described them as communal therapy sessions. [His] blunt & sometimes paternalistic traits have morphed into a source of comfort."
