Florida mom slams Disney for opposing anti-grooming bill

"If Disney is not going to support protecting young children from activist teachers and predators then we cannot trust Disney any longer with our children," the Florida mom wrote, according to Press Secretary Christina Pushaw.

Her full letter, addressed to Mr. Chapek, reads:

"I am a simple stay at home mom of four children. My family is not important to you. Until this morning we owned a small amount of Disney stock, tried to get to Disney World every couple of years and have loved all things Disney for a long time. Today our relationship with Disney came to an end. If Disney is not going to support protecting young children from activist teachers and predators then we cannot trust Disney any longer with our children. I know that the little amount of Disney stock we sold this morning will have no impact on your company whatsoever, but at least we will not be part of a company that seems to be care more about appeasing woke twenty something mobs than keeping young children safe."

"The Parental Rights Bill was passed to keep inappropriate sexual content out of kindergarten through third grade. This isn't controversial. It's about protecting children ages five to eight. My youngest child is seven years old. She loves princesses and baby dolls, and has huge gaps, and missing teeth when she smiles, thinks her teachers are rock stars and hugs everyone. She is in first grade. There is absolutely no situation where sexual instruction is appropriate for her. None. I would be very concerned if any adult thought otherwise. The bill is not anti-gay, anti-straight anti-anything. It is pro child and pro parent. It is sad that we have these types of bills at all but we have seen first-hand how activists disguised as teachers use their power to promote inappropriate content to children and then try to hide it from parents."

"How does a CEO of a company that caters to families and children oppose a bill that protects young children? We would have been content for Disney not to weigh in at all but now that you have, I'm sure you realize there's no grey on this issue. You either support protection of young children or you support groomers and activists."

"CEOs across America continue to let screaming twenty somethings on Twitter lead them by the nose in this crazy direction destroying our society along the way. We desperately need adults in the room to stop this woke hysteria and this current group of CEOs continues to fail."

On Thursday, DeSantis called the Walt Disney Company "woke" after Chapek issued the statement opposing the bill. In a speech DeSantis said there is "zero" chance he's going to chance his position on prohibiting the instruction of "transgenderism in kindergarten classrooms."

"When you have companies that have made a fortune off being family friendly and catering to families and young kids, they should understand that parents of young kids do not want this injected into their kid’s kindergarten classroom."

"You have companies, like at Disney, that are going to say and criticize parents' rights, they’re going to criticize the fact that we don’t want transgenderism in kindergarten in first grade classrooms. If that’s the hill they’re going to die on, then how do they possibly explain lining their pockets with their relationship from the Communist Party of China? Because that’s what they do, and they make a fortune, and they don’t say a word about the really brutal practices that you see over there at the hands of the CCP.”

"And so in Florida, our policies got to be based on the best interest of Florida citizens, not on the musing of woke corporations," she concluded.

Chapek appeared to cave to pressure from activists who demanded that Disney address the bill, and raised the issue during the company’s annual shareholder meeting. He apologized for not speaking out sooner, and promised $5 million to a group that supports the medical sterilization and surgical gender transition of minors.

"I understand that many are upset that we did not speak out against the bill. We were opposed to the bill from the outset, but we chose not to take a public position on it because we thought we could be more effective working behind the scenes, working with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle."

"I called Gov. DeSantis this morning to express our disappointment and concern that if the legislation becomes law, it could be used to unfairly target gay, lesbian, non-binary, and transgender kids and families," Chapek said.

DeSantis would not change his position, instead supporting parents' rights to have their children not educated in adult sexual and gender practices, and to prevent schools from keeping children's gender identity exploration secret from parents.
