The former Disney Channel star Kyle Massey, known for his role as Cory Baxter on That’s So Raven and Cory in the House is now facing a felony for allegedly sending sexually explicit content to a minor.
According to legal docs obtained by TMZ, Massey is facing a felony charge of one count of communication with a minor for immoral purposes. He is being accused of electronically sending sexually explicit content to the 13-year-old girl in December 2018 and January 2019.
The case is reportedly connected to a 2019 civil suit in which Massey was sued for $1.5 million for allegedly sending "numerous sexually explicit text messages, images, and videos" through Snapchat.
In response to the civil suit, Massey claimed that he was being extorted.
TMZ said that Massey "claims earlier this year the accuser's legal team demanded $1.5m threatening to go public to destroy his career if he did not comply. Hutton says his client told the accuser to pound sand."
Massey reportedly asked his fans and the public "not to jump to conclusions based on the allegations alone but reserve judgment until the whole story comes to light, proving these allegations baseless."
The civil suit reportedly went nowhere because the girl said her lawyers told her they didn't think Massey had enough money to make the case worth it. A report was then filed by the girl at the Sheriff's Office.
The girl's mother told police, who began investigating the matter in early 2020, that Massey had known the girl since she was four. Massey reportedly "held himself out as a father figure."
According to the documents, "police were given a thumb drive by the girl's mother containing the explicit material Massey allegedly sent over Snap when she was 13. Cops say the series of recordings include a pornographic video clip and a video of a man who appears to be Massey exposing his penis."
Massey was scheduled to appear for his arraignment in King County Criminal Court in Washington Monday, but failed to appear.
