“And once your firearm is pointed at Mr. Rittenhouse, that’s when he fires his gun, yes?” The defense asked. “Yes,” Grosskreutz replied.
During Kyle Rittenhouse's trial on Tuesday, during which Gaige Grosskreutz testified, it was revealed that Grosskreutz, one of the three men shot by Rittenhouse on the night of August 25, 2020 during riots in Kenosha, Wisc., was only shot after he pulled his gun on Rittenhouse.
The defense showed video of Rittenhouse running away from people advancing on him, and asked Grosskreutz if he was one of those "chasing" Rittenhouse. Grosskreutz said that he wasn't "chasing" Rittenhouse, but that he was "moving toward Mr. Rittenhouse."

View on RumbleGrosskreutz was asked by the defense about how he approached Rittenhouse, who was down on the street. Grosskreutz had his hands up as he was, the defense noted, "moving your front foot and you are moving toward Mr. Rittenhouse at that point." Grosskreutz agreed, and said that he was, at that point, five feet away.
"At this point," the defense asks, "you're holding a loaded, chambered, Glock 27 in your right hand."
Grosskreutz confirms that this is correct, and that he was "advancing toward Mr. Rittenhouse, who was seated on his butt" on the street.
"You're moving forward, in your right hand, drops down," the defense describes, saying that Grosskreutz's hands were no longer raised at that point and that the gun was "pointed at Mr. Rittenhouse."
"You agree your firearm was pointed at Mr. Rittenhouse," the defense asked. Grosskreutz agreed with this assessment.
"And once your firearm is pointed at Mr. Rittenhouse, that's when he fires his gun, yes?" The defense asked.
"Yes," Grosskreutz replied.
The defense attorney walked through the photo of that fateful moment with Grosskreutz, asking what Exhibit 67 showed. Grosskreutz replied that it showed his "bicep being vaporized."
"And it's being vaporized because you're pointing your gun directly at him, yes?" The defense asks.
"Yes," Grosskreutz replied.
"So when you were standing, three to five feet from him, your arms up in the air, he never fired," the defense attorney asked.
"Correct," Grosskreutz confirmed.
"It wasn't until you pointed your gun at him, advanced on him, now your hands down pointed at him, that he fired, right?" The defense asked.
"Correct," Grosskreutz confirmed.
Earlier in his testimony, Grosskreutz confirmed that he saw a mob advancing on Rittenhouse, and had approached him with his gun drawn.
