Hulu has removed an episode of "The Golden Girls" in which characters wear mud face masks. The episode is called “Mixed Feelings,” and it's been removed due to concerns over racism.
The episode focuses on Dorothy's son Michael marrying a much older black woman named Lorraine. Dorothy and Lorraine's family conspire to break up the marriage. Variety reports that one offending scene features Blanche and Rose running into Lorraine's family and saying “This is mud on our faces, we’re not really Black.”

"The Golden Girls" was an iconic sitcom that dealt with real issues of racism, sexism, and ageism. Blanche, Rose, Dorothy, and Sophia were women who understood the complexities of their time.
The show is beloved by many precisely because it did not shy away from discussions of sensitive or taboo topics. The characters in "The Golden Girls" did the work of confronting their own biases, and now the episode will be cancelled as mob justice and censorship continues throughout America. If talking about racism is a cancellable offence then we are regressing as a culture.
Putting aside that Blanche and Rose are doing face masks, not blackface, the episode is about Dorothy’s son marrying a black man and the two families coming together.
Cowards and lunatics everywhere.

It is not enough for the woke stars that these issues be addressed, they must be addressed solely in the language that is sanctioned by the progressive left. Anything else, any nuance, is untenable to these ideologues.
The show did the work of confronting racism, and for that, it's been called out and erased. During the time of its airing, this episode was responsible, most likely, for curing people of racist ideas, not of instilling them.
