‘I hope you die’: Socialist tabling outside El-Sayed event says journalist Cam Higby should die for being capitalist
“Your tenants decide they have a revolution. They put you down like the dog you are.”

At Wayne State University on Thursday, a member of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) who were tabling outside an Abdul El-Sayed campaign event was caught on camera threatening journalist Cam Higby, saying that if he were a landlord, his tenants would revolt and "put you down like the dog you are.”
One of the men tabling told Higby, “We believe that the only way to create change in this country is via revolution, and that won't happen through reforms.”
Higby asked what kind of revolution, and the man replied, “Overthrowing the government” and that it would be done through violence.

View on XLater in the conversation, the man told Higby, “You're just like trying to provoke people,” calling him an “intellectual masturbator.” The man said they weren’t out tabling for “spirited debate.”
“Oh, you're here to say we should kill all the landlords?” Higby asked.
“Yeah, dude. And if you're a f*cking landlord, I hope you die,” then man replied.
Higby asked, "you hope I die because I'm a capitalist?" The man replied, "yeah."
The man later added, “Your tenants decide they have a revolution. They put you down like the dog you are.”
Members of the group By Any Means Necessary (BAMN) were also caught on camera tabling inside Wayne State University in Michigan, refusing to condemn 9/11, and saying the terrorist attack that killed around 3,000 Americans in 2001 happened because of US "imperialist policies."
Higby spoke with the two people tabling, with one saying that they were organizing to shut down a Trump rally that will take place in Port Huron, Michigan. Undercover video from Higby caught the woman saying, “I'm 39, so I grew up as the 9/11 stuff happened. I feel like we were told so much bullsh*t.” She added, “I mean, I feel like this is the logic that got us stuck in Afghanistan, and we should not repeat that.”
Higby asked, “We did have to retaliate against 9/11, right? We couldn't just let 9/11 happen.”

The other woman at the table chimed in, while the first woman was heard laughing in the background, “I'm pretty sure that we have a fundamental disagreement.”
Higby said, “Well, I think that if somebody comes to kill the president of the United States, you shouldn't. You should obviously do something about it. And 9/11, you should obviously do something about it.”
The second woman said that the US should not have gone into Afghanistan and that “9/11 happened because of the US imperialist policies in the Middle East.”
“Are you saying we deserve 9/11?” Higby asked. The second woman paused before starting to answer, while the first woman said they were not going to engage any further.
BAMN, which has the full name “Coalition to Defend Affirmative Action, Integration and Immigrant Right and Fight for Equality By Any Means Necessary,” states on its website that its goal is to defeat “Donald trump and his fascist movement by any means necessary.”
Their website states, “BAMN exists to develop the conscious political method needed to turn our struggles into fights that CAN WIN, learning both from the successes and mistakes of our own struggles, and from the most successful leaders of mass movements like Martin Luther King and Frederick Douglass.”
Higby attended the El Sayed event at Wayne State and was removed from the largely empty arena after asking about reports indicating that he has taken money from foreign donors.
