Idaho teacher charged with felony rape of minor, plying him with drugs, alcohol

Jessica Lawson, now a former teacher at South Fremont High School, was subsequently charged with two counts of felony rape of a victim who is 16 or 17 years of age, felony delivery of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor dispensding alcohol to a minor. If convicted, she could face up to life in prison.

According to East Idaho News, on November 6 an officer with the Saint Anthony Police Department was conducting a routine traffic stop on a vehicle that appeared not to have functioning tail lights, however things quickly escalated.

The vehicle was traced back to Lawson, though the teenage boy driving was the sole occupant. He told the officer that she had allowed him to get behind the wheel "due to her being too drunk to drive."

The officer drove him home after he admitted to be in possession of marijuana, and a few hours later he received a call from the boy's parents. They explained that he had told them Lawson had picked him up the night before and taken to her home, where she proceeded to get herself drunk and him high before having sex with him.

Lawson admitted to the teen's parents that she had picked him up and given him alcohol, but denied that "anything else had occurred." She also said that while she did have marijuana at home, she did not give him any.

Nonetheless, she was quickly apprehended and booked into the Madison County Jail on $250,000 bond. The former teacher was ordered not to have any contact with the teen.

While Lawson taught at the aforementioned school for two years, it has not been made clear whether the victim was one of her students.
