In resurfaced social media post, GOP Congresswoman claims Jewish space lasers caused California wildfires, alleges other conspiracy theories
Georgia Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene was bombarded on social media, after a series of wild conspiracy theories she posted on social media before being elected, resurfaced.
Georgia Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene was bombarded on social media Thursday night, after a series of conspiracy theories she posted on Facebook before being elected, resurfaced.
According to left wing outlet Media Matters for America, Greene alleged that the 2018 California wildfires were the result of a space laser beam launched into space by wealthy Jews as part of a conspiracy with California politicians to clear space to build a high speed train. Greene claimed the beam was powered by "space solar generators."
Greene wrote in her post, “there are all these people who have said they saw what looked like lasers or blue beams of light causing the fires." Greene added that she found it interesting that a vice chairman at "Rothschild Inc, international investment banking firm" is also on the PG&E board.
The reference to "Rothschild" is an anti-Semitic conspiracy from the 19th century involving the Rothschild family created a banking family dynasty in Europe and accumulated one of the largest collections of wealth for the time period.
The family is falsely accused of using their wealth in a quest for world domination in modern conspiracy theories. #rothchild without the ‘s’ is commonly used on Twitter by anti Semites spreading conspiracy theories about Jews.
California’s devastating ‘Camp Fire’ wildfire began in November 2018. According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection it was the worst forest fire in the state’s history, burning 153,336 acres, destroying 18,804 structures and costing 85 lives. This caused was determined to be cause by “electrical transmission lines owned and operated by Pacific Gas and Electricity (PG&E) located in the Pulga area."
According to Bloomberg, Greene deleted the post which also contained multiple QAnon theories, after a CNN report exposed that "Greene repeatedly indicated support for executing prominent Democratic politicians in 2018 and 2019 before being elected to Congress." According to Business Insider, she also deleted other old Facebook posts, which claimed 9/11, and the Sandy Hook and Parkland school shootings were all hoaxes.
A spokesperson for House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy told Axios: "These comments are deeply disturbing and Leader McCarthy plans to have a conversation with the Congresswoman about them." The Daily Wire reported Friday that Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D-CA) is planning to introduce a resolution to expel Greene (R-GA) after a CNN report alleged that she had “indicated support for executing prominent Democratic politicians” before running for Congress.
