An Iowa man has been indicted on federal charges after investigators discovered child sexual abuse material involving a child younger than 12 on his phone. The man was known as a DJ who performed at a gay bar in Des Moines.
Daniel Stamp has been charged with transporting child sexual abuse material and possessing a phone containing child sexual abuse images of a child younger than 12. In May, Stamp arrived at Chicago O'Hare International Airport from Spain, where US Customs and Border Protection officers referred him for a secondary inspection after receiving a law enforcement report about ongoing payments to an account suspected of distributing child sexual abuse images.
Homeland Security Investigations agents allegedly discovered photos and videos in the trash folder of Stamp’s phone that appeared to depict prepubescent boys. The images met the legal definition of child sexual abuse material.
According to KCCI, the criminal complaint stated that Stamp waived his Miranda rights and told agents he received and viewed the images through the messaging app Telegram. He also said he had done this for multiple years.
Stamp confessed that he had other devices at his home in Johnston, Iowa, that contained roughly 3.5 terabytes of data that included child sexual abuse images.
Another affidavit filed in Virginia said that Stamp told investigators he exchanged "teen media" on Telegram with an account called “the teacher,” which was linked to Kenneth Wolff.
Stamp, who was also known as DJ Stampy, had worked with The Blazing Saddle, a gay bar in Des Moines. The bar announced in a statement that it had ended its relationship with Stamp.
"We unequivocally condemn child sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, trafficking, and predatory behavior in ALL forms," the bar said in a statement. "We have fought too long and too hard to create safe spaces to allow anyone to compromise that trust."
