BREAKING: Jussie Smollett takes the stand, details gay bathhouse escapades with Nigerian brother
Jussie Smollett, the actor accused of perpetrating a hate hoax and lying to police about it, got on the witness stand on Monday to defend himself during the trial against him.
Jussie Smollett, the actor accused of perpetrating a hate hoax and lying to police about it, took to the witness stand on Monday to defend himself during the trial against him.
Smollett claimed that he originally met Abimbola Osundairo, now a witness for the prosecution, at a Chicago nightclub, and that the pair then wound up together in the Steamworks, a bathhouse in Chicago's Boystown neighborhood, according to the New York Post.

"We were in a club, you go to the bathroom, go to a stall, do a bump, do a bump and then just kind of keep going in and then we went to the bathhouse," said Smollett, referring to the cocaine use that preceded the sexual encounter that night.
Smollett said that the pair didn't have sexual intercourse, but that "we did more drugs and made out," and that "there was touching and things like that," on that night.
The defense has claimed that the attack on Smollett was real and was precipitated by Osundairo wanting to be hired as Smollett's security guard.
On the other hand, prosecutors claim that Smollett had a motive to perpetrate the hate hoax, since he was upset with how the studio he was working for handled his hate mail, feeling that they didn't stand up for him enough.
