Award-winning singer Kanye West will not require attendees to submit coronavirus vaccinations or negative test results at his upcoming concert on Thursday in Chicago.
In order to abide by West's wishes, the city of Chicago reduced capacity from 63,000 to 38,000 fans for Kanye's "Donda" concert that's set to take place at Soldier Field on August 26.
According to Chicago Park District spokeswoman Michele Lemons, the city's decision to reduce capacity shows that Chicago is committed to COVID-19 precautions.
"Kanye West's performance is one of many examples that show that Chicago can be open and safe at the same time," Lemons said, according to the Chicago Tribune.
"We have worked with Soldier Field on COVID-19 safety protocols, as we have other venues including Wrigley and Guaranteed Rate Fields, and feel this event can be safely held with the proper mitigation efforts in place."
West will unveil his latest album "Donda" to concertgoers for the first time on Thursday. The Chicago native's new album is in honor of his late mother, Donda, who passed away in 2007 after a medical procedure. There will be a replica of the Chicago home West grew up in inside Soldier Field.
