Libby Emmons talks to Benny Johnson about Disney’s war on parental rights

Johnson, starting out, said: "While most agree that parents are the ones who should make the important decisions about a child's life, there are some who seem to think that it is the job of the government, or some corporation."

"Maybe Disney can raise your children for you; wouldn't that be nice?" Johnson went on sarcastically. "Disney has inserted themselves into the discussion by coming out in opposition to Florida's Parental Rights in Education bill."

Johnson then introduced Emmons, and asked her to "illuminate for us what is happening inside of the wokest place on Earth." Emmons responded:

"I think it's actually been really fascinating to watch this all play out."

"You had the governor of Florida sign a bill into law about education, parents' rights in education, parents' rights to transparency of some of the curriculum regarding sex-ed or gender identity or sexual orientation," Emmons continued.

"And, there were concerns that school districts were teaching things that were inappropriate and that parents would object to, so this law was passed."

Emmons then pivoted to criticism of the bill by Disney and other liberal entities, and how it came to be, saying: "Disney at first didn't say anything about it, and publicly, they were lashed out against at by progressives..."

"It was only after that that the CEO, Bob Chapek, came out and said that the coporation would work to repeal the law, [as if] a major coporation has any right to get involved in a state legislature, or to dictate to a governor what should happen."

"It was really sort of shocking to watch that all go down," Emmons went on.

Emmons mentioned how other Disney executives as well the "woke" all over the country came out as against the bill to oppose it. She mentioned examples such as Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg and the White House.

Johnson mentioned at that point that The Post Millennial "covers the culture wars better than almost any publication online, in my honest opinion," and has been "doing God's work" by higlighing some of the "true insanity out there."

The host went on to mention that Disney has been "a huge crony capitalist carve-out inside the state of Florida." Emmons, on Disney's autonomy, explained that was "a deal that was struck between the state and Disney because Disney was going to be such a large employer, it was going to bring so much business to the state."

"But it really is a privilege, and it's a privilege that they had, in large part, because they were going to be this large employer, and because they weren't objectionable."

"But, at this point, what we are seeing is that they are more interested in using their weight to push politicians around, and, in essence, to push around the people of Florida, which is certainly not their right," Emmons elucidated.

"Parents widely support the Parental Rights in Education bill," continued Emmons, highlighting that the bill "was drafted and enacted because of real actual problems that were happening in the state of Florida in the educational system."
