CBS “chose to cut FIVE important minutes out of my nearly 15 minute interview.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson has slammed CBS News for cutting out a portion of his interview with the network, which he said removed or downplayed important points that he made on the border, FEMA and the hurricane response, as well as election integrity issues. He has said that he will never do anything on the network other than a live interview as a result.
In a thread posted on X, Johnson shared side-by-side clips of what was aired on CBS' "Face the Nation" on television versus what fully took place, which he recorded from his office. In one clip, during which Johnson gave his first-hand account of the hurricane, CBS took out the a large portion of what he said. He said in the thread that CBS "chose to cut FIVE important minutes out of my nearly 15 minute interview."

But CBS selectively edited OUT ENTIRELY this first-hand perspective."
The House speaker also discussed election integrity issues in the CBS interview, saying that the Biden-Harris Department of Justice has sued the state of Virgina for "systematic programs aimed at removing the names of ineligible voters from voter registration lists" within 90 days of the election.

View on XJohnson was pressed by the CBS host about laws requiring proof of citizenship in federal elections and told Face the Nation's Margaret Brennen that many states do not require proof of citizenship to register to vote. He added that after Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin ordered that the state's voter rolls be cleaned up, "the Biden-Harris administration sued the governor and the state, the Commonwealth of Virginia, to try to prevent them from cleaning up their voter rolls."
Johnson added, in the omitted portion of the interview, "See, that kind of thing creates a lot of doubt and concern in the minds of a lot of the American people."

View on XFurther portions of the interview that were omitted by CBS News included those in which Johnson spoke about the Biden-Harris administration's allowing millions of people to come into the country and that many Americans have concerns over illegal immigrants voting in the 2024 election. This comes after the outlet selectively edited its sit-down interview with Vice President Kamala Harris, which the outlet has refused to fully disclose.
