Nova Scotia extends state of emergency after one new case of COVID-19 reported

The affected individual tested positive in the NS Health Authority's central zone, and is now in self-imposed quarantine.

According to CTV News, there are currently a grand total of three active cases of coronavirus within the province. The two other individuals tested positive on Wednesday and on September 22, respectively.

One of them is also currently in a state of self-isolation. The other is a health-care worker who travelled outside of Canada and currently under intensive care in the hospital.

Nova Scotia has had a total of 1089 positive tests during the whole history of the virus. Breaking this statistic down, there have been 65 deaths, three active cases as mentioned above, and 1021 people full recoveries.

To date, the province has had 95,956 test results come back negative. Novia Scotia continues to test at an average rate of just under 1000 tests per day.

Most of the testing and most of the positive results (911 positive results out of the 1089, to be precise) have been within the central zone, which includes the city of Halifax.

The provincial state of emergency was first declared back on March 22 and has been in full effect since that date.

Under this state of emergency, anybody coming into the province from outside the Atlantic provinces must self-quarantine for two weeks, with certain exceptions. Rotational workers are allowed to travel as per their job requirements.

Border checkpoints are in place, and proper documentation is required to pass them.
