The State Department has revoked over 300,000 visas since President Donald Trump took office last year. Officials with the State Department said that the visas were revoked as a consequence of criminal activity, threats to public safety, as well as immigration law violations.
The revelations were announced by the State Department, and an official with the department said that at least 4,000 of the visas were revoked from foreign nationals “who engage in or facilitated birth tourism."
“With over 300,000 revocations, the Trump administration has revoked more visas at a faster pace than any administration in history,” State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott told the New York Post. “Let the message be clear: we have zero tolerance for foreigners here on visas who break the law, commit fraud, or undermine our national security. We are taking, and will continue to take, action to keep our borders, and our nation, secure.”
In September, the State Department revealed that since January 2025, there had been as many as 250,000 visas revoked. The pace at which they have been revoked has accelerated over the course of 2026. Around 25 percent of all visas revoked in 2025 were for assaults or related crimes. 22 percent were for DUIs, 7 percent were for theft, and another 7 percent were for substance abuse or distribution.
The Trump administration has revoked visas at a record pace compared to other administrations. The Biden administration revoked around 40,000 during his entire presidency, while Trump is doing nearly 8 times that in just two years in office.
The action has been part of the president's wider crackdown on immigration as well as illegal immigration into the country.
