Gut-wrenching audio and video showed the moment a plane carrying nine passengers crashed into a busy highway in Palm Beach, Florida.
Cockpit communications with air-traffic control conveyed the panic from one of the pilots as the plane descended at a rapid rate in Cresthaven, just south of the President Donald J. Trump International Airport.
“Holy f*ck, we’re out of time,” said the female voice before the plane nosedived into the ground.
Within the span of only a minute, the plane went from “moderate turbulence” to a “mayday” disaster, killing all nine aboard.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy issued a statement calling it a “horrific tragedy.”
He said the Learjet 60 had departed from Austin, Texas, en route to the Bahamas when the crash occurred around 12:50 pm Sunday.
The Federal Aviation Administration would send a team to support the investigation being led by the National Transportation Safety Board, he said.
Drone video of the site showed a massive crater in the asphalt where the plane crash-landed.
Other scenes showed the fiery aftermath on the ground as shocked eyewitnesses reacted, many of them capturing video on their phones.
