Pride club for kindergarteners hosted by LA public schools

LA schools, which implemented "queer pedagogy" in 2021, offer a bright, colorful poster for their Rainbow Club. It invites children from TK, or transitional kindergarten, to grade five to join via Zoom every Wednesday from 3 pm to 4 pm. The group runs from September 7 to November 16, 2022.

Educators in the district have also shared videos with students and parents on how best to use preferred pronouns, and also encouraged them to check out "boudoir photos" of one of the pronoun propagators.

Prior to the first meeting of the Rainbow Club in November, educators are invited to join an "informational meeting," hosted by LAUSD's Human Relations department. These educators will receive a "Rainbow Club Starter Kit" so that they can start Rainbow Clubs at their schools to indoctrinate young, elementary school students into gender identity and have discussions with them about sexual orientation.

After LAUSD's Human Relations Instagram page caught notice of those who oppose the sexualization and indoctrination of young children, the account was taken down. The information is still available on the LAUSD site. Much of the website seems to involve showing educators how to talk to students about gender identity.

The programming, however, is slated to go forward.

The Rainbow Club describes itself as being "for elementary students and their loved ones" and includes time prior to the start of each session for "for parents and other interested adults to ask questions and learn about the group."

LAUSD also has a group just for parents. This is a support group for "LGBTq+ parents/caregivers and parents/caregivers of lgbtq+ students."

The Rainbow Club is endorsed by the group Out for Safe Schools, which describes itself on its website as "a program of the Los Angeles LGBT Center and a comprehensive anti-bullying training program designed to equip teachers, administrators and school staff to be visible LGBTQIA+ allies."

There is also an "Affirming Schools Consultation Group" which is billed as "a monthly drop-in space for educators to discuss best practices for supporting LGBTQ+ students and families."

School staff who have completed their training receive rainbow badges and lanyards, which signify "their willingness to talk about LGBTQIA+ issues" turning them into "mobile safe spaces" to "reach students beyond the classroom throughout the school day."

The Pride club for kindergarteners is part of the LAUSD's Human Relations, Diversity & Equity program, which offers a range of other events on its site, such as programs for middle school and high school students, as well.

The Middle and High School LGBTQ+ Drop-in which occurs on the first Monday of every month, the Rainbow Club Informational Meeting for Educators to be held on September 22 and featuring a "special panel of Rainbow Club leaders", and an Affirming Schools Consultation Group which is a "monthly drop-in space for educators to discuss best practices for supporting LGBTQ+ students and their families."
