Republican Rep. Madison Cawthorn says he wants to prosecute Fauci ‘to the full ability of the law’

Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) has no love lost for Dr. Anthony Fauci. In an interview on Wednesday, he expressed his desire to formally prosecute Fauci.
During an interview on Real America's Voice, the young congressman told "Just the Truth" constitutional law expert Jenna Ellis:
"We want to prosecute this guy to the full ability of the law. And I'll tell you, to lie to the American people just to get your name in the news, just to get your face on the cover of books, just to get fame and fortune. I'll tell you, Dr. Anthony Fauci does not deserve either fame or fortune."
"I'll tell you, when we take the majority back in 2022, I'll make sure consequences are doled out," further voiced Cawthorn, also accusing Fauci of being a "pawn of the Chinese communist party."
On Tuesday, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) also iterated similar statements regarding Fauci. "Knowing that it is a crime to lie to Congress, do you wish to retract your statement of May 11 where you claim that the NIH never funded gain of function research in Wuhan," Paul questioned Fauci during a fiery hearing on Capitol Hill.
Paul told Fox News host Sean Hannity on Tuesday night that he would be sending a criminal referral letter to the Department of Justice about Fauci's alleged actions.
At issue are the allegations that Fauci funneled funds to an organization which wound up investing them in the even more infamous Wuhan Institute of Virology, even though it was known at the time that they were engaging in what Paul describes as "gain-of-function research." It is prohibited in the US for federal funding to be used for gain-of function research of any kind.
