Democrat candidate for US Senate in Kansas Adam Hamilton has been revealed to conduct "queer weddings" at his church, and the organization has paid money to protect a drag queen story hour for children.
In undercover video obtained by Townhall, Lydia Kim—a pastor of connection of care at Hamilton's Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas—tried to assure a visitor that Hamilton's church has bought into transgender ideology.
“Our pastor is currently running for Senate as a Democrat," Kim said on the undercover video. She added, "This is the church that he built."
“We have trans members here at our church,” Kim added. “Some of my favorite volunteers are trans, like you would never know. Like we just love on them and they love on other people. But part of them coming here was because they knew that they would be accepted.”
She added that the church is part of the Pride Fest every year. The church's website states: “KC PrideFest is an annual celebration of the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. The event highlights the community’s history, culture, and achievements while creating space to promote acceptance, equality, and inclusion. It also serves as a reminder of the ongoing work to honor the struggles that have shaped the movement for equal rights.”
During the video, Kim praised the drag queen story hour that is hosted by Urban Abbey, which is an affiliated church in Nebraska. She added that the event is "fabulous" and that when Urban Abbey was allegedly threatened over the event, Hamilton's "church responded, because we were like, that’s not okay. Like, there are children and families who come and worship at this space, and like, some of the drag queens are members of that church and so we sent money to help with security.”
She added that all the pastors in the church, which would include Hamilton, are "open and affirming" and said that Hamilton's church conducts "queer weddings."
"We do queer weddings here. Like we've had them. We did them before when we weren't supposed to. We are an open and inclusive church, and he, we have trans people literally on church grounds," Kim added.
Hamilton is challenging incumbent Senator Roger Marshall in the 2026 midterm elections. Latest polling averages place Hamilton ahead with a 3.6-point advantage over Marshall, according to RealClearPolling. Voting in Kansas takes place on Tuesday, with polls opening at 7 am and closing at 7 pm.
