Riots continue in Brooklyn Center for the third consecutive night, no looting reported

The Minnesota National Guard deployed inside the temporary barricades surrounding the police headquarters ahead of the protests. In anticipation of another night of unrest, a city wide curfew remained in effect in Brooklyn Center from 10 PM Tuesday to 6 AM Wednesday.

A daylight rally began outside the police department then marched to the local FBI Headquarters. As the crowed marched their numbers grew. According to State Patrol Col. Matt Langer the event "devolved" after dark.

Rioters began shaking the fence which had been erected around the police station. Rioters also threw bottles and other objects including bricks at police and launched fireworks at officers and vandalized the precinct. Mace was also sprayed at police. Officers told protesters over a loudspeaker that the assembly was unlawful and gave them 10 minutes to leave the area and then began making arrests around 9 PM. Media was also warned by police that they would also need to leave the area.

Rioters also emplyed a common Antifa tactic of using umbrellas and wooden shields to hide their activities and deflect tear gas canisters and flash bangs from police.

Fires were lit nearby as rioters moved into the neighborhood surrounding the precinct. Rioters were videoed marching through streets of the city with Black Lives Matter and Antifa signs and flags. A fire broke out at 70th and Humboldt near the scene of the demonstrations around 11 PM.

Minnesota State Patrol Colonel Matt Langer said in a news conference early Wednesday morning there were "many arrests for riot and other criminal behaviors." The behaviors that we continue to see are unacceptable and we are not going to tolerate them ...It is not acceptable and it will not be tolerated if you choose to do criminal activity and destroy property and throw objects and make it unsafe for people to come and exercise their First Amendment rights." The exact number of arrests was not available at the time of publishing.

According to Deputy Chief Ameila Huffman, in nearby Minneapolis, there were no reports of looting or break-ins Tuesday night. Many stores had been looted and destroyed Sunday and Monday nights.

Riots also contined in other cities around the country.
