Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell was disrupted during a press brief on Wednesday by a group of far-left activists who demanded that the city stop sweeping homeless encampments on public streets; where vagrants are overdosing on fentanyl as the open-air drug crisis continues to worsen throughout the city.
Democrat Mayor Harrell was announcing plans for a new "vision" for Seattle's downtown corridor, which has succumbed to violent crime and is now riddled with dangerous homeless addicts, when members from a radical homeless advocacy group called "Stop the Sweeps" disrupted the press conference that addressed new efforts to combat the city's violent crime and drug crisis.

"No housing, no sweeps!" they shouted as the activists held signs that read "sweeps kill" and "stop the Harrell horror show."
A local news reporter captured the incident on video which shows Mayor Harrell exiting the podium hoping to engage in a conversation with the activists. The mayor's attempts to converse with the protesters seemingly failed to be effective, as the group continued its disruption.
"The mayor stopped his remarks to engage the protesters, he said 'let's have a conversation", they just kept shouting at him. They are continuing their chants as the mayor has now resumed speaking. A group of about 15 is booing him," Komo News reporter Jeremy Harris said on Twitter.

"Mayor is back on stage, he says the city 'does not apologize' for going after fentanyl dealers who are 'bringing poison onto our streets and killing our children," Harris reported.

View on XAfter Harrell concluded his remarks, a minority business owner took to the stage to express concerns about violent crime impacting his downtown business, but he was just the next victim disrupted by the far-leftists. The business owner said he was hopeful about the city's new plans when triggered activists continued their chants.
"Things are back on the rails, but the protesters are now trying to shout down a man who is talking about being a minority business owner in downtown Seattle. He says his suit shop has just signed a new lease and is confident in improvement downtown," Harris said.

View on XAccording to Harris, a "disturbed" man who was presumably suffering from an apparent mental health crisis came extremely close to the stage while Harrell was speaking. A photo shows the man wearing a tinfoil crown with scotch tape covering the entirety of his face. A separate individual was also smoking fentanyl nearby while the mayor addressed the open-air drug crisis.

View on XAhead of the announcement, Mayor Harrell's office said that the Seattle Police Department has seized millions of fentanyl pills. 85 individuals were arrested in downtown Seattle in the month of May for selling, delivering, or smuggling illegal drugs.
The Harrell administration's "downtown revitalization plan" includes increased cleaning services throughout the city, new street lighting, opening up an alternative crisis care clinic, and arresting drug dealers selling fentanyl pills, according to the statement.
The mayor's announcement follows the recent tragic shooting death of a pregnant Seattle business owner who was executed in cold blood by a repeat offender.
