Rep. James Comer (R-KY), the chairman of the committee, announced last week that he had opened an investigation into the July 2 incident during which cocaine was discovered in the Biden White House prompting an evacuation of the executive mansion.
An anonymous law enforcement source told the outlet that the Secret Service scheduled the briefing in order to give lawmakers an update on the investigation after performing fingerprint and DNA analysis.
Wednesday night it was reported that fingerprints were found on the bag of cocaine and "officials at the White House know who handled" it.
Politico previously stated that the person responsible was “unlikely to be found.” An unidentified source told the outlet it was "gonna be very difficult for us to do that because of where it was."
"Even if there were surveillance cameras, unless you were waving it around, it may not have been caught. It's a bit of a thoroughfare. People walk by there all the time."
