Stanford University instructor suspended after making Jewish students stand in a corner after Hamas attack on Israel

According to The Forward, the “non-faculty instructor” asked three students who were Jewish and Israeli to identify themselves during a required undergraduate course called “Civil, Liberal and Global Education.”

The instructor reportedly then told the Jewish students to take what they had with them, stand in a corner, and stated, “This is what Israel does to the Palestinians.”

According to the students, the instructor then reportedly asked, “How many people died in the Holocaust?” After a student replied, “Six million,” the instructor responded, “Colonizers killed more than 6 million. Israel is a colonizer.”

On Wednesday, the university’s President Richard Saller, and Provost Jenny Martinez released a statement informing the school’s community that the instructor was a teaching assistant and had been suspended. The statement did not discuss the specifics of the incident but stated that the instructor “…addressed the Middle East conflict in a manner that called out individual students in class based on their backgrounds and identities.”

Rabbi Dov Greenberg, director of the Chabad Stanford Jewish Center told The Forward that he was informed by the students they were afraid to speak out against the treatment in class out of fear that their grades would be affected.

According to Greenberg, the instructor said, “Hamas is a legitimate representation of the Palestinian people. They are not a terrorist group. They are freedom fighters. Their actions are legitimate.’”

Greenberg added: “He’s saying Israel is worse than the Nazis and Hamas is innocent. This is what Jewish students face at Stanford and other places. They’re feeling isolated, under attack, and threatened.”

The Stanford Daily reported that pro-Palestinian banners have been placed around campus in addition to anti-Israel slogans in chalk and the Daily published an op-ed by the antisemitic group Stanford Students for Justice in Palestine which called Hamas attacks on Israeli civilians “part of the protracted struggle against settler-colonial oppression” and called the Jewish state’s retaliatory attacks on Gaza and “illegal collective punishment under the Geneva Convention.”

College campuses in the US have been a hotbed of Jew-hatred and anti-Israel protests since Hamas terrorists raided the Jewish state Killing over 1,000 civilians and injuring thousands more.
