The suspect allegedly responsible for Saturday's shooting that injured three people in New York City's Times Square has been identified as Farrakhan Muhammad, WNBC reported. The shooting happened just after 5pm on Saturday after an argument broke out between a group of men, according to New York Police Department Commissioner Dermot Shea.
Two senior NYPD official identified Muhammad as the primary person of interest in connection to the shooting. Those official state that Muhammad attempted to shoot his brother during that argument, and remains at large. The three shot were unintended targets, according to Shea. "The first person shot is a 4-year-old female from Brooklyn. She was shot in the leg and it is believed she is undergoing surgery," he said.
A 23-year-old woman was hit in her thigh, and a 43-year-old woman was shot in her foot. All three victims were taken to Bellevue Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and are expected to survive.
Wendy Magrinat was one of those shot, and was in town from Rhode Island with her husband and 2-year-old son, according to WNBC.
"All of a sudden I heard someone call out in a bad tone at someone. I told my husband 'let's move a little bit forward' because he had our 2-year-old in his hands," she told WNBC. "At the same moment I told him that, the shots fired. I walked a little bit and then I started screaming, asking for help."
The bullet will likely remain in her leg for the rest of her life, with Magrinat saying "the doctors said that they wouldn’t do any surgery or take out the bullet, just because it would do more damage."
