Trans killer Dana Rivers sentenced to life in prison for murder of lesbian couple and their son in California

Rivers was convicted last year of shooting the victims in their Oakland home and stabbing one of them 47 times before setting fire to their garage on his way out.

Judge Scott Patton said at the sentencing, "It is a horrible thing to sentence someone to die in prison, and I don’t take that lightly. But this is the most depraved crime I ever handled in the criminal justice system in 33 years. Frankly, you deserve to spend the rest of your life in prison."

In a statement to the court, Richard Wright, brother of victim Patricia Wright, said his sister was the "rubber band" that held the family together and "When Dana Rivers killed my sister, she broke that rubber band," according to Mercury News.

“What held my family together was gone," he concluded.

"It remains to be seen whether he will be held in a man's or women's prison. For now, Justice has prevailed," said attorney, author, and president of Women's Declaration International Kara Dansky.

In December, Dansky, along with the founder of Women's Liberation Front, Lierre Keith, biology professor Arla Hile, and Jesika Gonzalez, were assaulted by 8 to 12 Antifa members while speaking out against men being housed in women's prisons.

"They hit me all over the head," Keith said at the time. "especially this eye is definitely hurting. So whatever. I can still see, you know, they're just cowards. They came, and they hit us. It's a bunch of men hitting a bunch of women, as usual."

"They want to shut us up," Keith continued. "We're not allowed to talk because we're women. So we're right back to 150 years ago where women are not allowed to appear in public and we're not allowed to have opinions in public. But if you think that we are giving up our rights, you've got another thing coming."

After the attack, Dansky said, "We are here in defense of lesbians and incarcerated women." She continued, "These men clearly hate lesbians, incarcerated women, and the women who will stand up for them. This was a physical assault."

California laws currently allow prisoners to serve their sentences in a prison that corresponds with their gender identity. This could mean that despite his crimes against women and a child, Rivers could serve the rest of his life in a women's prison.
