Trump slams ‘watchdog group’ for attempts to remove him from Colorado ballot for ‘insurrection’ under 14th Amendment
“I have been beating them for years, including Impeachments. MAGA!!!”
“I have been beating them for years, including Impeachments. MAGA!!!”

On Friday, former President Donald Trump called out the Washington, DC watchdog group that is representing a group of Colorado voters and attempting to use the Fourteenth Amendment to block him from appearing on the state's ballot in 2024.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, "The group suing me in Colorado to ridiculously try and Unconstitutionally keep me off the ballot... is TRUMP DERANGED 'CREW'."

He added that the group is "composed of many slime balls & groups like Norm Eisen through Brookings or Just Security, Andrew Weissmann, Joyce Vance, et al." He continued, "They are, perhaps illegally, working with Weissmann acolyte Lisa Monaco at 'Injustice.' I have been beating them for years, including Impeachments. MAGA!!!"
He also claimed that he is "leading against DeSanctimonious by almost 50 points, and beating Crooked Joe, BIG!" in Colorado.
Earlier this month the Citizens for Responsibility & Ethics in Washington (CREW) claimed in a press release that Trump has "disqualified himself from public office by violating Section 3 of the 14th Amendment."
Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment states that a person is disqualified from holding office if they "have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof." It notes, "Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability." Trump has been neither charged nor convicted of insurrection or rebellion.
According to the lawsuit brought by the group on behalf of six Republicans and unaffiliated voters claims that Trump "incited and encouraged a violent mob that attacked the Capitol on January 6, 2021, in a futile attempt to remain in office" and therefore violated his oath of office.
CREW President Noah Bookbinder said, "If the very fabric of our democracy is to hold, we must ensure that the Constitution is enforced and the same people who attacked our democratic system not be put in charge of it." He claimed that the group is not "bringing this case to make a point" but that January 6 was "exactly the kind of event the framers of the 14th Amendment wanted to build protections in case of.
A Trump campaign spokesperson previously said, "The people who are pursuing this absurd conspiracy theory and political attack on President Trump are stretching the law beyond recognition." He noted, "There is no legal basis for this effort except in the minds of those who are pushing it."
