WATCH: Adam Schiff refuses to say he will comply with possible Republican subpoena in new Congress

“We’ll have to consider the validity of the subpoena,” the congressman said.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, the Democratic California congressman who also sits on the January 6th Committee, refused to state outright if he would comply with a Republican subpoena should they issue him one after they take back House control in January.
Schiff made the comments on CNN's "State of the Union Sunday" morning show, when host Dana Bash asked about the possibility of a GOP-led investigation in which he could be subpoenaed.

And the fact that they have disrespected the law is not a precedent I would hope that would be broadly followed. But we'll have to look at the legitimacy or lack of legitimacy of what they do."
Schiff recently heard the news that he will be stripped from his committee assignment should Rep. Kevin McCarthy become Speaker of the House.
In an appearance last week on Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures," McCarthy said that Schiff's promotion of the Steele dossier disqualifies him from serving on the Intelligence Committee. He also spoke of his plans to prohibit Rep. Eric Swalwell, who was connected to a Chinese spy named Fang Fang, from serving as well.
The presumptive next speaker of the House said, "One thing I said from the very beginning, Eric Swalwell cannot get a security clearance in the public sector. Why would we ever give him a security clearance and the secrets to America? So, I will not allow him to be on Intel."
"You have Adam Schiff, who lied to the American public time and again – we will not allow him to be on the Intel Committee either," he added.
On the CNN show, Schiff claimed that McCarthy, along with other Republican Reps James Comer, the incoming House Oversight Committee chair, and Jim Jordan will not carry out real investigations because of their perceived loyalty to former President Donald Trump.
"Comer and Jordan and McCarthy will do nothing but carry Donald Trump's water," Schiff said.
