WATCH: Dinesh D’Souza explains why the Jan 6 hearing is ‘political theater’

"Yesterday's Pelosi commission hearing was, to me, it was a laugh-fest, one [thing] on top of the other," D'Souza says. "Now, I recognize that this laughter seems kind of inappropriate in the air of solemnity that surrounds this event, you know, one Capitol Police officer testifying after another."

D'Souza goes on to state that, during the hearing, the tears of people testifying were generally fake. He mimics a few of the testifiers pretending to cry, which elicits off-screen laughter. He questions why all the crying at the Jan. 6 hearing from Schiff, from Kinzinger, from a Capitol Hill police officer provoked skeptical viewers to derisive laughter. "This is all massive theater. This is all massive theater," D'Souza reiterates as he gets serious and makes his point clear.

"Here's my question. All of the Capitol is under surveillance. Where's the surveillance video? Police officers have body cam[s]. Where's the body cam video?" D'Souza questions. "It's a very simple principle: If it's not in the video, it didn't happen. And the simple truth of it is it's not in the video; it didn't happen."

"So, this is not a truth-fest; it's essentially a lie-fest. These are people putting on a show; they're leading a side," D'Souza continues.

"I mean, I don't think Ashli Babbitt's name was even mentioned in the hearing," says D'Souza, tying in to a previous video of his, in which he lays out exactly why the media wants to cover up the story surrounding the Air Force veteran's death.

"This is, you may say, theater for stupid people. And, I guess people who have just been watching, you know, CNN and MSNBC, they've never heard the other side. And so, all they're getting is this diet of propaganda," D'Souza says.

D'Souza explains that it's the "argumentum ad ignorantiam, the argument that appeals to the ignorance of the audience."

"But for those of us who are kind of in the know, who followed the whole thing, who watched it live, who've actually read what we can about it, who've looked at the video that we have that's been released about it, our reaction is not to take in these lies, but to guffaw, to ridicule, and to respond to all this 'weepery' with a massive belly-chortle," D'Souza concludes in the video.
