WATCH: Maxime Bernier slams Trudeau for running away from truckers’ protest
“These people are not dangerous, they just want to regain all their freedoms and that’s why we are here today.”

PPC Leader Maxime Bernier was in attendance at the truckers convoy protest at Parliament Hill on Saturday and had harsh words for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who earlier in the day was whisked away to a secure location due to security concerns.
"I don't understand why he's not here," Bernier told The Post Millennial's Beth Baisch. "These people are not dangerous, they just want to regain all their freedoms and that's why we are here today."

"In the UK, they said enough is enough. There's no mandates anymore there. In Florida, in Texas, in South Dakota. So the virus is there, yes, we understand that. But now we need to learn to live in that virus and not in fear," he said.
"That's why we are here today. Peacefully. Not protesting, but enjoying our freedoms, and we want that every single day of the year," Bernier said.
The crowd at Parliament Hill sang multiple rounds of O Canada as trucks lined the streets, honking horns.

View on XTrudeau family have left their resident due to "security concerns" over the truckers who are currently gridlocking the city with their trucks, honking their horns, and participating in protests including singing the national anthem outside Parliament Hill.
Trudeau has offered only condemnation to the truckers and their protest, saying that the truckers and their supporters are a "small fringe minority."
"The small fringe minority of people who are on their way to Ottawa who are holding unacceptable views that they are expressing do not represent the views of Canadians who have been there for each other, who know that following the science and stepping up to protect each other is the best way to continue to ensure our freedoms, our rights, our values, as a country," Trudeau said this week.
