WATCH: San Francisco Apple store RANSACKED by thieves while staff, customers stand by

Video footage of the Black Friday incident, which has been circulating widely online, shows employees of the Apple Store in Palo Alto, California, making no attempts to stop them, instead ushering customers away from the scene and telling people to back up. Someone can also be heard asking, "Yo, should we stop them?"

At one point in the clip, an employee is seen trying to hand over a laptop to one of the thieves.

According to police acting Capt. James Reifschneider, one of the employees allegedly heard one of the thieves threaten violence against anyone who attempted to stop them.

This threat of violence potentially elevates the crime from a burglary shoplift to a robbery, which carries a maximum sentence of nine years in the state of California. No weapons can be seen in the video and no injuries occur.

After filling their bags with merchandise, the pair left the store and fled the scene in a red Mazda3 hatchback.

Police have made no arrests yet, but have said they're looking for two black males in their late teens or early twenties.

One of the thieves was wearing a blue hoodie and black pants while the other was wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans. The video shows them both carrying backpacks as they yank the various devices off their displays.

The video clip has been shared widely on social media, with some users commenting about the downfall of society in relation to nobody trying to intervene.

"Society is so broken in California that employees are basically trained to help assist tens of thousands of dollars of the merchandise being stolen right in front of them (notice them holding customers back) as everyone else just stands around and watches," one user lamented. "How did we get here?"

This is not the first time this Apple Store has seen this kind of action. In 2018, the store was robbed twice in a 24-hour period, losing $100,000 worth of merchandise, while in 2016, thieves drove a rented car through the front of the store and made off with thousands of dollars of merchandise.
