WATCH: SNL FINALLY makes fun of Biden—mocks CNN town hall, approval rating, hair sniffing

In the SNL segment, the first (present-day) Biden is played by James Austin Johnson. He calls in the show's version of White House press secretary Jen Psaki who informs him that nobody watched his CNN town hall on Thursday night and that his approval rating is plummeting. "People used to like me," the Biden character tells the SNL audience. "They used to call me Uncle Joe."

"I miss the old me. Where the hell did that guy go?" he asks, signaling the appearance of the "ghost of Biden past," played by actor Jason Sudeikis, reprising his early 2010s-era Biden impression, wearing aviator glasses, a ballcap, and a blue zip-up with the vice-presidential logo on its breast.

"Wait a second. Who are you?" asks today's Biden.

Sudeikis responds, "What do you mean who are you? I am you! I am you from eight years ago, man. The ghost of Biden past. Boo!"

"You seem so happy. So carefree. So — what is the word I am looking for?" says present-day Biden. "Lucid!" declares the second Biden.

After the laughter subsides, Sudeikis continues:

"Where I am from, we are still VP. Easiest gig in the world. We’re like America’s wacky neighbor, you know. Just pop in with an ice cream cone, some aviator shades, finger guns. Shake a few hands and rub a few shoulders."

What follows is a take on Biden's much-lampooned and criticized habit of sniffing people's hair, as Sudeikis sniffs today's Biden. "You like that?" Sudeikis whispers as he massages present-day Biden's shoulders, causing him to half-close his eyes.

"Look, I hope this doesn’t sound sexist, but you have got to smile more, sweetie."

A third Biden appears briefly, played by Alex Moffat in the political rendition of A Christmas Carol, who is even less lucid than today's Biden.

Sudeikis concludes with constructive criticism: "I want you to stand tall. I want you to flash those '100-percent natural' choppers we got. And remember. We may be from different eras. But at the end of the day, we are both Joe freakin' Biden."
