“All we needed was a new president.”
The TikTok video is captioned, “All we needed was a new president.” and lists some of the President’s accomplishments during this term and also uses Minaj’s song ‘Va Va Voom.” The video said, "A president who prioritizes Americans," and then listed "No Men in Women’s sports," also "Border is closed, our cities are safer than ever, criminal illegals are being deported, gas prices are low, world peace."
During this term, the president has signed an executive order banning trans students from using facilities in schools that receive federal funding and has threatened to take away funding from institutions not complying with this ban. Trump’s “No Men in Women’s Sports” executive order bans trans women and girls from women’s sports competitions. The International Olympic Committee is planning to ban biological males from women’s sports prior to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. President Trump had said, before this announcement, that the US would deny visas for trans-identified males wanting to compete in women’s sports in these Olympic games.
This comes not long after Minaj, born Onika Maraj, publicly thanked Trump for his statements on the killing of Christians in Nigeria. She wrote on X earlier this month that Trump’s statements gave her "a deep sense of gratitude," and added, “No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other.”
Not long after her post about Christians in Nigeria, the White House used Minaj’s song “Beez in the Trap” for a clip with Melania and President Trump. Minaj responded on X, posting, “The President & First Lady of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!,” and added "Barbz, idk which one of you uploaded this to the White House TikTok but just know unlimited backstage GAG CITY FOR LIFE. Idk what timeline we’re on right now, I’m just going with the flow.”
Some of her fans have been critical of her recent online posts giving credit to the president.
