The MSNBC host changed her username to "Nope" just before she deactivated her account on X.
The MSNBC pundit deleted her account and announced her departure from the social media platform on TikTok, saying, "Hey guys, today I did something I've been meaning to do for a while," she said, then panning to a screenshot of her account being deactivated.
"And the reason for doing it, and kissing goodbye my 1.9 million followers over there is because I hadn't been posting for a long time - I just didn't want to contribute content once it was purchased by its present owner."
The MSNBC host changed her username to “Nope” just before she deactivated her account on X.
Reid said that she was only holding onto the account to prevent people from taking her handle and to look through the news and headlines, but then complained, "In order to do the news aggregation and just look at all, you have to wade through a lot of dreck and just abuse and a lot of negativity and it’s just not worth it.”
Reid was a vocal supporter of Kamala Harris throughout the 2024 election cycle and when Trump won against her, the MSNBC host blamed white women, saying, “Black voters came through for Kamala Harris, white women voters did not." She added in reference to the 2016 race, "This would be the second opportunity white women in this country have to change the way they interact with the patriarchy."
The move from Reid follows ex-CNN host Don Lemon, who announced that he would be leaving X over concerns about decisions the company has made for potential litigation. The Guardian as well has left the platform and claimed that X has become "toxic" with Elon Musk as the owner of the company.
