The New York City Department of Education (DOE) has teamed up with NYC Health and Hospitals to require that all parents and guardians consent to COVID-19 for students who are attending school in person. Parents and guardians must sign off on the random testing in order for kids to be allowed to attend school in person.

The consent form reveals that the testing partners will come to every school once a month to distribute tests to students and educators. The document notifies parents that their child could be tested during one of these visits, and that their child may be tested at any time during the school year if he or she exhibits one or more symptoms of COVID-19.

The document also lays out the procedure for a COVID-19 test, noting that a swab through the front of the nose or saliva sample are two options to derive effective results.

There is a qualification on the form that says sometimes tests can produce a false positive or false negative test, and adds that any student who tests positive for the virus should be taken to his or her general care physician for assistance.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, one New York City public school parent told The Post Millennial that

"On the most basic level, it is problematic that any invasive procedure would be performed on my child outside of my presence. Though particularly concerning for parents of elementary students who may be frightened, children of any age with sensory issues, but should be alarming for parents of all children, who are hopefully being taught that no one has the right to touch them without mom or dad being there to watch over them. Schools should not normalize any message to the contrary.

"The deeper disturbance is that the most liberal population possibly on the planet is yawning at a requirement to submit a child's biological material to the government in order to access in person public education.

"While these same New Yorkers decry the non-specific 'fascism' of the President, too many are happily lining up their children for nasal swabs at the schoolhouse door. Those speaking out are marginalized by other parents and community members as 'overprotective' or worse 'conspiracy theorists' while simultaneously being ignored by the Mayor and school officials."

According to NYC Health, only 493 children per 100,000 people under the age of 18 have contracted the virus in the city since March, with zero deaths.
